Watercolor Plus Mixed Media with Doug Canepa,

Wednesdays, May 1 - 28, 2024



Doug Canepa is offering another painting class to Villagers who are interested in exploring different tools and media to enhance their basic painting skills. He will explore strategies beyond traditional watercolor painting by adding acrylics to make images pop. Textured paste, colored pencils and charcoal pencils will be used for texture. Burnishing and blending tools will be introduced as will pen and ink.


Join Doug for this interesting class, Wednesdays, May 1 - May 28 , 10 am – 12 noon in the Art Room.  Fee for this 5 session class is $70.


Bring your own materials and Doug will furnish burnishing tools, charcoal, colored pencils, texturing paste, charcoal pencils and ink.  A wide range of subject matter will be based on student interest during the class. Doug offers extra help for his students during his Monday Open Studios on March 11, 18 and 25.

Abstract Art with Wendy


Wendy Fitzgerald is offering an rare and unusual  study group – class with her expertise in collage and mindful drawing.


If you wish to create abstract art but having problem to get started?  This is the class for you.  Wendy will teach you multiple ways to create abstract art by incorporating collage pieces as inspiration. The metaphor of collage

triggers magical responses in your brain and unexpected creativity will surprise you as a result.  




Fun with Pastels with Terri Ford


Terri  Ford, an internationally famous pastel painter who lives in The Villages, will offer a 4 day Pastel Painting class. Terri is an IAPS Eminent Pastelist and a PSA Master Pastelist.  The 4 day class takes place  on 2 Tuesdays,  April 30 and May 7  and 2 Thursdays,  May 2 and May 9 The time is 1:00 pm – 3:30 pm in the Cribari Center Art Room.  The fee is $75. All Villagers are welcome to take Terri's 4 day class.  


Terri will furnish sanded pastel paper and some pastels while students are invited to bring their own supply of pastels and a photograph. You will also need a board or other hard surface to which to tape your pastel paper.  


In addition to the basics, Terri will stress color temperature and the importance and power of “mark making.”

IT’S MORE FUN TO CRAFT TOGETHER!


 

Friday, May 3, 1 - 4 pm. Open Card Crafting Day for anyone who has attended Mandy's previous classes or has some experience with card crafting. This class will not include specific instruction for a card, but will be an opportunity to use tools you may not have available at home. Mandy will be available to assist with ideas and card-making help. She'll provide a variety of card stock, die cuts, stencils, and stamps to make cards suitable for Mother's Day, a birthday or a thank you. Think flowers!


 

Crafters should bring a cutting tool and adhesive, plus any favorite tools.
